Q: Im looking for Inconel 718 bolts but I need a bit more strength than what is typically offered as a min of 185ksi Ultimate Tensile. Is it possible to make Inconel 718 stronger than that?
A: Yes…Actually Inconel 718 bolts are available in a few different flavors. The most common variety of Inconel 718 is per the ASTM B637 specification calling for a min of 185 ksi. This also true for the AMS 5663 heat treatment. If you more strength out of Inconel 718 bolts, they can be heat treated and cold worked per AMS 5962. This special grade of Inconel 5962 will provide a Min Tensile of 220ksi.
