Q: I’m looking for replacements for m6 SS bolts on the head of a pump that pumps 12.5% NaOCl (bleach or sodium hypochlorite). The bolts tend to loosen over time and the bleach weeps out and destroys the A4 SS bolts. The operating temperature is about 80-90 F most of the year – so a little warmer than room temp.
Do you have a suitable replacement for them? They are M6 socket heads.
A: For sodium hypochlorite it’s definitely worth replacing the A4 bolts (316SS,) as they do not have a chance in that environment. The two best materials are titanium grade 2 bolts and Hastelloy C276 bolts. Both are excellent in chloride environments.
