Stainless 304 B8 Class 1 vs Class 2

Q:  I see stainless steel 304 B8 comes in two classes. What is the difference?

A:  Yes, B8 bolts are both a form of 304 steel that are available in two classes. Class 1 bolts are carbide solution treated to ensure the uniform structure and composition, reduce tensile strength and increase elongation, and to optimize corrosion resistance.  Class 2 bolts are also strain hardened to further increase the materials strength characteristics and reduce the potential for galling.
