Q: I have a customer who requested a Hastelloy bolt per MIL-DTL-1222. Is this something you can produce?
A: Yes we can produce to this spec but first you should know that MIL-S-1222 has been superseded by MIL-DTL-1222. A Hastelloy bolt per MIL-DTL-1222 will cover MIL-S-1222 but the reverse is not true. MIL-DTL-1222 has updated the materials properties and has also increased the sampling plan. MIL-DTL-1222 covers standard studs, hex cap screws, and heavy hex bolts in nominal standard diameters of ¼ inch to 4 inches, nuts in nominal standard diameters of ¼ inch to 3 inches, and socket head cap screws in nominal standard diameters of ¼ inch to 1½ inches for applications where a high degree of reliability is required. MIL-DTL-1222 covers a variety of materials, including: Nickel Alloys such as Hastelloy, Inconel and Monel; Corrosion Resistant Steels, (CRES), Titanium, and Aluminum. Therefore we can quote this Hastelloy bolt per MIL-DTL-1222 which is the most current specification.
